Surprise!

Our neighborhood gals started a Bunco group over a year ago. It has changed to more of a supper club now. We just eat and have some girl time. They were so sweet to surprise me with a baby shower Monday night. It sure was fun. Here are some things that Leah was given. Thanks, girls!

Why the blog name?

For the past several years, I have had people tell me that I would have a child because God will give you the desire of your heart. I do believe that God provides those blessings, but not in that way all of the time. About a year ago I went to a conference where the speaker spoke on this passage. The difference in hearing her speak on it was that she kept reading the scripture.

4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. 7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

What I learned was that we must delight ourselves in the Lord, commit our ways to Him, trust him, and wait patiently. That was a huge revelation for me that day because I clearly heard God telling me to just wait. Wait for what? I had no clue, but I knew God had my best interest in mind and whatever he wanted me to wait on would be worth the wait. Even if I hadn't become pregnant, it was worth the wait.

And what does it really mean to "delight" yourself in the Lord? It means to take great pleasure. We are all waiting on something...a spouse, a child, a home, a job, and the list could go on. Do we take great pleasure in the Lord while we wait or do we become sad, disappointed or bitter that we have to wait? The bible says to "delight" therefore I hope to always be full of delight in the Lord and patiently wait for all the plans He has for me. God is so good and we are blessed!

Trying this out

So I decided (probably against my better judgement) to start a blog. I thought this would allow me to share some photos and memorable moments with my family and friends. I am going to need some advice from my other blogging friends on exactly how to make this page look the way I want.

I am now 32 weeks pregnant and growing. It has been a very exciting and long journey to get to this point. We tried for 7 years to conceive and despite going through infertility treatments we still were left with no child. In the process we decided to begin the foster to adopt route, and planned to foster in Jan 2009. In November, I decided to go to one other fertiltiy specialist just to see if we would get the same advice. If so then we would continue toward adoption. We found out, however, that I had a gene mutation preventing me from getting pregnant and staying pregnant. I was prescribed a lot of folic acid and a baby aspirin a day. In January, we would try another trial of treament. To our surprise, we never had to do any other treatment because I was pregnant. It was hard to be excited at first because I had already miscarried two times before. So we waited and prayed and now we are in the home stretch. Our little girl is due October 2nd. God has blessed us beyond our imaginations. Here are a few ultrasound and belly pics.
